Sample Writing Based on Visual

It's interesting when something is left to grow wild. And one goes back years later. Does that something become hideous? Or does that something become beautiful.

I don't think I have ever had this experience. So I really wouldn't know.

This photograph was taken in High Line Park where this did, indeed, happen. But it was taken back from the wild, and it became manicured wild. Does that mean the wild wasn't beautiful enough for the average human. Or did the city merely get a good idea from nature?

"Thanks, Nature. That looks nice, but we'll take it from here," they said.

Nature's angry.
Nature was doing fine on its own.
Nature liked how things were shaping up down there--how things were coming together on their own.

Or perhaps Nature was trying to make a point.
And Nature always wins.
In the end.

story of a girl

I just finished reading Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr. I was surprised at how much I liked it. The main character, Deanna, is trying to live down a the gossip about her from three years ago. She goes on a mental journey that many young women go through at that age. While the writing isn't as wonderful as many other writers for this age group, the story is good and the characters are interesting.

The book was recommended to me by a student, and I thank her for introducing me to this lovely book.

Young @ Heart

I am in love with this movie. I'd had a run of bad movies and therefore wasn't looking forward to watching this one. But it was wonderful. Full of life yet the characters are so close to the end of theirs.

This documentary follows a group of senior citizens as they perform covers of rock songs. It sounds silly, and sometimes it is. But most of the time it's heartwarming.

There is some sadness--they are getting up there in age after all--but mostly it's wonderful.
